•  Hard Coating:  In the areas of machining and tooling, PVD coatings are widely used to increase the life and productivity of production tools saving companies billions of dollars worldwide. Lida Materials, together with our partner, has been supplying sputtering targets for the hard coating industries for many years. We are vertically integrated in Chromium (Cr) production from the raw material refining to final target production. Our sputtering targets help our customers reduce wear and pickup downtime due to tool replacement. • Solar:  Lida Materials provides high-purity sputtering targets and evaporation materials specifically for the thin-film solar photovoltaic industry. For the back contact layer, our 3N5 molybdenum (Mo) sputtering target has excellent density (typically >99%), uniform grain size distribution (see picture), and lower cost of ownership. Our 3N5 chromium (Cr) target is made using a HIP process that ensures the highest possible density and uniformity. We can also provide aluminum (Al), purity from 3N5–5N5; titanium (Ti), purity from Grade 2–5N; and silver (Ag), purity 4N. For the front contact / transparent conducting oxide (TCO) layer, we provide ZnO, AZO, and ITO targets based on your film design and needs. For CIGS using a co-evaporation process, we provide 6N pure copper pellets with Fe < 0.1 ppm at a very competitive price. This product has been well received by our customers. We can also provide high-purity (5N+) indium (In) and gallium (Ga) evaporation materials. For CIGS using a sputtering process, we provide CuIn, CuGa, and CuInGa sputtering targets based on your specific formula and designs.

Lab Analysis:

•  All materials are tested in our in-house analytical laboratory or one of the internationally recognized laboratories
• Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry (GDMS): used for analyzing high-purity metallic impurities
• Interstitial Gas Analysis (LECO, in-house): used for analyzing gas elements O, S, C, N, and H.
• Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES, in-house): used for analyzing metallic impurities and major elements in alloys
• Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM, in-house): used for surface analysis, chemical composition (using EDS), and crystalline structure and crystal orientations (using EBSD)
• Metallographic Equipment: used for grain size analysis
• Density Measurement (Archimedes principle)
• Ultrasonic Scan: used for detecting porosities or cracks in the material or bonding integrity.
